An Interview With My Classmate-Phoung
Today I would like to interview my classmate Phoung. She is from Vietnam. She is 19, and not married. She is student at El Monte Adult School. She came to The United Stated in 2007. Her aunt brought her here for a better life. She is planing to be a full time student for her next five years, and complete her general education here. When she was a little girl, she used to play around with her sisters in her room, sometimes played too rough and got hurt badly.

The Sense Of Time
I am convinced that people view time differently in different culture in the world. People have different attitudes toward the time. Men,women, young men, young women, older men and older women are all vary in this regard. There are some similarities and differences how Taiwanese view time and how American view time.
In Taiwan, I believe most people put things on their time schedules in order to save time. In workplaces people are tied to time. Being late is not tolerated. People make their appointments to visit their doctors and reservations to dine out. Just like Americans do. Americans take time very serious, and put business in tight-scheduled as well. However, there is a major difference between Taiwanese and Americans view time. Americans think business is more important than friend relationship, they take business one at a time. Relatively speaking, Taiwanese enjoy taking business as many customers as they can.
Finally, to have the concept of time is very important to our interpersonal relationship with others in our social life, it usually gives a first impression to people and express our personality. So we should be aware of this.

The two processes of making a pot or cup of tea and of coffee
I almost drink tea and coffee every day.
First both beverages have something in common, for example both use water.
Say if I want drink tea, first I take out my favorite tea leaves or tea bag and tea pot and cup.
then fill tea pot with water( filter water is better) and heat water until it boiled. One thing is very important is warm my cup first because this will make loose tea leaves taste much more aroma. Next put the loose tea leaves or tea bag into my cup and wait for water is boiled. while water is boiled I pour hot water into teapot and wait about 20-30 seconds to steep to my desired strength then drain the water and pour the tea into my cup. Now I can have my hot tea and do whatever I want to do or relaxing a bit.
As to how to making a coffee, personally I prefer ground coffee to instant coffee. First I put my favorite Kona coffee beans in grind machince then grind it. Next I boil the water just like making the tea, then put the filter over the coffee pot and put about 2 teaspoonful of ground coffee into filter and wait until water is boiled. When water is boiling I pour the hot water into the filter and let coffee drip into my coffee cup, meanwhile I'd add some half and half into the cup. That is !

what are your plans for mother's day?
Mother's day is around the corner. So I'd better to make a plan for it as sooner as possible I can as usual.
Here is my plans:
First, since she is not living with me, therefore I need to call her first and wish her a Happy Mother' Day, then send her Mother's day card that I've bought for her last weekend. Meanwhile, I must e-mail my sister reminding her to make a reservation of restaurant she likes. After dinner take her to see her best friend in the nursing home. This is always her routine when any holiday is coming.
I know she is looking forward to seeing me on Mother's Day this year, but I'm sure that I'll disappoint her this time, I feel a bit of guilt.
Anyway, I promise her I would have a Mother's Day with her next year no matter what reason can be.

From:Lin
To:Kenji
Dear Kenji:
I'm sorry to hear your heart-breaking news that you broke up with Kathy. Why was that? I know that Kathy is not only a well-disciplined girl, but also pretty. I like her too.
Now that she won't answer your phone calls. How about just going straight to her home or office and waiting for her there patiently. Then face to face you'll have a chance to tell her how much you still love her and are willing to apologize to her.
Keep it up until she wants to forgive you.
Good luck.

Two Outstanding Authors
Mr.Ertll and Dr. Ly are my role models. As a immigrant to the U.S., I was impressed by both author's successes. They have achieved their dreams here in AMERICA, though they went through very difficult circumstances in their early lives. Mr Randy Ertll, the author of HOPE IN TIMES OF DARKNESS,overcome an unpleasant environment. He lived in a gang-infested area in South Central Los Angeles. And Dr. Ly, the author of NO DREAM BEYOND MY REACH, experienced and suffered the pain of the regime of a tyrant in her native country.
Looking back on their paths to success here, not only did they plan their goals for their futhure to come to the U.S., but also worked on it consistently in their daily lives. This is a sort of attitude I want to learn from them.
In their books, they never forget to encourage people who want to succeed, no matter how bad the situation is in their lives, never to back down. They assure that there is always a hope out there for you. Believe in youself. As long as you promise yourself to study hard, work hard, and grasp the opportunity to accomplish your goals, then you'll succeed.
Mr. Ertll and Dr.Ly really set a good example for immigrats to the U.S., I should think of this benefit each moment in my life.

my goals for 2010
what do you think about making goals for New Year?
Obviously, "New Year" means starting a new year, so I would like to plan my personal or family goalsfor the whole year to follow.
New Year's Day, it is important to do so, because time flies. If I don't do so, I probably will lose some oppoertunities to do something, which I would regret later. For example, certain thins are okay for you to wit to do tomorrow, but some can't wait. When it's gone, It's gone. So be smart and do it. I should remember that.
